The Alligator Gar is an introduced species, that in many regards is not necessarily a great sport fish. That being said the fish bizarre almost prehistoric appearance draws the attenion of a lot of anglers, who would love to see one in the flesh! Like many predatory fish, it's not so difficult to induce a take from an Alligator Gar, but it is sometimes more difficult to remove the hook becuase of those needle like teeth. Although the Alligator gar can reach very large sizes, a big specimen for Thailand right now is in the 50lb range, but that's likely to change!
