Fishing in Thailand for the Arapaima

The Arapaima, another introduced species from the Amazon, has found a place of importance on the Thai fishing scene. Many anglers travel from all over the world to spend time targeting this enormous predatory species. Once thought to be a contender for the world's largest freshwater fish, there are rumours abound of Arapaima far bigger than any captured on rod and line. Even so, very large specimens have been taken on rod and line in Thailand with the largest thought to be touching 200kg or 440lb! When present in a lake, the Arapaima is not necessarily difficult to get a run from, but sometimes far harder to play and land!
